What is a 2-D and 3-D dental X-ray?
At City Dental Practice, we use the Vatech pan-oral x-ray machine and software which allow us to view all of your teeth, their relation to one another, and how they are positioned. We have both the 2D and 3D machine which provide superior image quality. Yes, that’s right, we can scan your mouth in three dimensions. This gives us the best overview of your mouth, bone, nerves, sinuses and everything else to make sure we’re giving you the best and most complete dental treatment.
For most scenario’s, a 2-D dental x-ray is enough to see and diagnose most dental disease. And we will always assess you first to make sure we are only taking the necessary scans for you.
Our digital x-rays have become a necessity for our orthodontic treatments, complicated oral surgeries and wisdom tooth extractions, dental implant placements and many other dental treatments to ensure you are getting the best possible treatment.
What are the benefits?
A pan-oral x-ray gives us a comprehensive view of your entire mouth on a single film and in a relatively short amount of time. It can also be used to detect early signs of periodontal disease (gum disease), oral cancer, impacted teeth, and temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ).
